Meet Our Staff

Dr. Dale grew up on a farm in Indiana. He studied at Purdue Veterinary School and has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 35 years. His favorite part of working at our clinic is helping pet owners keep their pets healthy.

His main goal as a vet is to be part of a successful team that promotes animal health and provides excellent care to the Effingham County area. He has three rescue dogs - Toby, Winston and Oliver and 3 cats - Curly, Cheech and Chong!

Dr James grew up in rural northern Illinois where he cultivated a love of science and animals. He graduated with honors from University of Illinois in 1994 and started working at Effingham Veterinary Clinic. Since that time, he has been involved with mixed animal practice, however most of his time is now devoted to dairy producers.            

Outside of work, Dr James spends as much time as possible with his four daughters. They raise and exhibit sheep, pigeons, ducks and rabbits, along with many other animals that have found a home with the family. Dr James also greatly enjoys coaching youth in the fine art of olympic style rifle shooting. 

Dr. Flynn grew up in Sulllivan, IL.  After high school, she went to Eastern Illinois University and then graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.  

She moved to Effingham in 2001 with her husband. Since then they have raised 3 children and worked to keep the people and pets of Effingham healthy.  

Dr. Flynn works exclusively with small animals and admits that she has a true affinity for felines. She didn’t grow up on a farm, but she’s always had a cat.

Dr. Katie is a native of Madison, West Virginia; a small town in the rural coalfields. She grew up with many species of pets including her loving Labrador Retriever Lucky. Dr. Katie completed her education at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. While at Ohio State, she was a Stanton Scholar and completed externships in Texas, Kentucky and Cleveland, all focusing on large animal and emergency medicine.

Katie is fulfilling her lifelong dream of working with small and large animals. She resides in Newton with her husband and cat, Luna.

Teresa was born and raised in Montrose, IL, and earned her Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from Parkland College. With over 34 years of experience as a veterinary technician, she has been an integral part of our team since joining the clinic.  Although she retired from her role as a veterinary technician in 2019, Teresa continues to play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of the clinic.

Her favorite part of working at the clinic is helping ensure the team provides top quality care to our patients while also supporting the day to day operations that keep everything running efficiently and supporting both the team and our clients.

Outside of work, Teresa enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.  She has a wide range of hobbies, including traveling, camping, reading, and sewing. Teresa also enjoys taking her horse on buggy rides and spending time with her dogs and cats. Her love for family animals and the outdoors is evident in everything she does. 

Janie grew up in East Peoria, Illinois, and relocated to the area in 2013 to join our team.  With a deep passion for veterinary medicine, she especially enjoys working on the large animal side of things.  Her experience and commitment to both small and large animals make her a valuable asset to our clinic.

Outside of work, Janie is busy with her husband, three children, and a variety of animals, including her 5 dogs, 3 cats, and a couple of goats. Her hands-on experience with family and animals gives her a great perspective on animal care, which she brings to every aspect of her work.

Mikaela started her career in 2010 as a kennel assistant. Because of her love for veterinary medicine, she received her Associate's Degree in Applied Science becoming a CVT (Certified Veterinary Technician) in 2013.

Mikaela is very passionate about client education and advocating for the health and well being of every pet that enters the clinic. Performing diagnostics to assist the veterinarian in determining why a pet is not feeling well is very rewarding to her.

Mikaela has 3 cats (Drake, Norbert and Chip) and 2 Australian Shephards (Spocket and Ruby).

Born and raised in Effingham, Kaylee obtained a job as a kennel assistant and has been with us ever since. During this time, she earned her Bachelor's degree at SIU-C. Her favorite part about working at East Side is getting to learn something new each day as well as interacting with the adorable patients!

Outside of work, Kaylee enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing sports, musicals and watching movies. At home she has 4 dogs, 3 cats and a cockatiel. She is see here with her dog, Mycha.

Kaylee graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science in 2024. She has a special love for large animal medicine and getting to grow her knowledge at the clinic. Kaylee's favorite thing about working at the clinic is the emergency side of medicine.

In her free time, she enjoys riding horses with friends and spending time with family. Kaylee is pictured with her dog, Barney.

Ashley has over 12 years experience as a veterinary assistant/technician. She has a love for caring for your animals, educating pet parents, assisting with surgery and performing small animal dental procedures.

Ashley graduated from Missouri State University in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and Biology. She recently finished her Associates degree in Veterinary nursing and intends to obtain her CVT in December 2024.

Outside of the clinic, Ashley enjoys reading, writing, crocheting, and being outdoors. She currently resides in Mattoon, IL with her husband, son and two golden retrievers.
